The entry is placed. The stop is set. The two-hour clock is running. Now comes the part of trading that most students underestimate — managing the trade as it moves through the levels.

Getting in is one decision. Managing through three levels and two consolidations is a series of decisions — each one requiring the same discipline as the entry. The traders who make the most money in this method are not necessarily the ones with the best entries. They are the ones who hold the winning trades longest and exit the losing ones cleanest. Management is where the edge compounds.

Entry gets you in the trade. Management determines how much of the move you actually keep.

The Complete Management Sequence

Every decision in trade management follows the level structure. There is a specific action required at each stage — and an equally specific action that must be avoided. Here is the complete sequence from entry to exit.

Every management decision follows what price is doing — not how you feel about the trade. When Level I is running, you hold because Level I candles tell you to hold. When Level III begins, you exit because Level III candles tell you to exit. The candles make the decisions. You execute them. Remove yourself from the equation.

The Two Most Expensive Management Mistakes

Most of the profit that gets left on the table in this method comes from two specific management errors. Not bad entries. Not wrong setups. Management decisions made at the wrong time for the wrong reasons.

Mistake 1 — Exiting During the Consolidation

The Level I or Level II consolidation looks exactly like a reversal beginning. The candles chop. The EMAs cross. Price pulls back toward entry. Every instinct says to exit and protect what you have.

The stop is at breakeven. There is nothing to protect. The trade cannot lose. The consolidation is expected — and it resolves in the trend direction when the cycle position is correct. Exiting during the consolidation means missing Level II and Level III entirely. It turns a 100-pip trade into a 40-pip scratch. This mistake costs more cumulative profit than any losing trade ever will.

Mistake 2 — Moving the Stop Too Early

The instinct to move the stop to breakeven at 25 or 30 pip is understandable. But a stop at breakeven during the Level I run gets taken out by the Level I consolidation almost every time. The consolidation regularly retraces 20–35 pip before resolving in the trend direction.

The stop moves to breakeven at 50 pip. Not 30. Not 40. Fifty. The rule exists because 50 pip puts the stop beyond the typical consolidation retracement range. Follow the number. Not the feeling.

Partial Profits — When and How

The method's default is to hold the full position through the levels and trail the stop through consolidations. That extracts maximum profit from the move. But partial profit taking is a legitimate alternative for traders who find the emotional strain of watching unrealised profit fluctuate during consolidations too disruptive to their decision-making.

When to take partial profit — at the 50-pip mark on half the position. Move the stop to breakeven on the remainder. The closed half locks in confirmed profit. The remaining half runs free — zero risk, unlimited upside.
What partial profit costs — average pip per trade decreases. A trade that runs 120 pip through all three levels becomes a 50-pip trade on half and a 120-pip trade on the other half — averaging 85 pip rather than 120. Partials are emotionally easier but mathematically less efficient.
Who should use partials — traders who find themselves making impulsive decisions during consolidations. Locking in half at 50 pip removes the emotional stake in the remainder and often prevents the bigger mistakes.
Who should not use partials — traders who can hold through consolidations without impulsive decisions. The math favours the full position over enough trades to matter significantly.

The Honest Answer on Partials

Start with the full position approach. Trade it for at least 20 sessions before deciding whether you need partials. Most traders who think they need partials discover — after 20 disciplined sessions — that consolidations become readable rather than threatening. Once you can identify a consolidation in real time with confidence, the emotional case for partial profits largely disappears.

Hold through Level I. Hold through the consolidations. Scale at Level II. Exit at Level III. Every time.
